Shelter at 50 – the charity launches Anthony Burrill print giveaway

While Shelter’s 50th is hardly call for celebration, it’s important to mark the significant work that the charity has undertaken – and the changes it has helped bring about – since 1966. This week, we’ll be posting a series of stories which look at how the organisation has raised awareness of homelessness and the housing crisis – and at the various methods it has used over the years in its campaigning to ensure these issues do not fade from public view.

We start with a look at a new project which marks Shelter’s half-centenary with a sobering point and a call-to-arms: a series of 200 letterpress prints created by graphic artist, designer and print-maker, Anthony Burrill, each of which states ‘Enough is Enough!’ in striking red letters. (You can watch Burrill working on the print in the video below.)

And luckily for fans of Burrill’s work, Shelter is giving away all 200 prints away via an online ballot on the Shelter website.

So to be in with a chance of winning one of the prints, which measure 59.4cm by 84.1cm, simply enter your details on the Shelter site before Friday December 23 – and winners will be notified in early 2017. Of the print itself, the charity says that the statement “perfectly sums up Shelter’s determination to put an end to bad housing and homelessness, once and for all”.
