Harvey Nichols has turned its attention to Italy this winter, launching ‘Britalia’ a series of products that celebrate the best of Italian style, beauty, food, drink, culture and lifestyle.
To promote it, adam&eveDDB created a new ad featuring a scene from a Luigi Pirandello play – As You Desire Me – overlaid with witty subtitles which suggest an arguing couple are cursing Harvey Nichols (though as those Italian-speaking readers amongst you will know, in reality they are not).
Harvey Nichols’ decision to focus on Italy was not taken at random: it follows stats from the store that show that we Brits like to buy Italian stuff at Christmastime. The store will feature Christmassy windows promoting the products, but this ad makes no particular mention of the festive season, signalling quite a break from previous Christmas campaigns from the brand.
