Greenery: Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2017

Greenery Pantone colour of the year 2017

Last year’s announcement surprised us all with Pantone picking two colours, pale blue Serenity and dusky pink Rose Quartz, for 2016. Going back to their traditional one colour approach they’ve picked ‘fresh and zesty’ Greenery for the coming year. Amidst political uncertainly the choice of one is reassuring. Perhaps the last thing we needed was the challenge of picking between two shades or deciding how best to pair them.

In response to the social and political complexity of our times Pantone have picked a vibrant tangy green that “bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for”.

Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman explains why this “life affirming shade” was a natural choice; “Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy.”

Plus it reminds us to eat our fruit and veg!
