Note to Self was set up by freelance designers David Moore and Chris Roberts. Speakers are each given a 20 minute time slot and asked to discuss their work and inspiration around a particular theme. (The theme for next month’s event has not yet been announced but updates will be posted on the NTS website).
Speaker Chris Gaffey has worked in advertising since the 1980s, and has directed commercials and idents for car brands, sports teams, PlayStation games and VR projects.
Jim Williams is a graphic designer and lecturer – in 2012, he released Type Matters! a 160-page guide to typography which started out as a handout for students (you can read our post on it here).
Lord Whitney is made up of Amy Lord and Rebecca Whitney and specialises in art direction, production design and set building. The pair recently worked with director Hannah Lux-Davis to design a Japanese shop interior and bespoke neon lights for Nikki Minaj’s The Night is Still Young promo, and with director Dan Henshaw on some pastel 1950s style sets for Will Young’s Joy. They also created some colourful backdrops for a series of films promoting raspberry liqueur Chambord (pictured top).
Design studio Spin released a monograph of their work last summer, Spin 360º, which collated over 20 years of projects. They also worked on a new identity for the University for the Creative Arts back in March.
