Fifty-two artists were given a week of the year each – from November 2014 to November 2015 – and asked to illustrate one particular news story which broke within that seven day period. Following a Kickstarter campaign and an exhibition, Yellow is now available to buy as a hardback book.
The aim of the collection, say OFFLIFE, is “to show that illustration isn’t just a medium of pretty pictures; that it can be as powerful as any photograph or piece of writing.”
Featured illustrators include Jean Jullien, Hattie Stewart, Supermundane, Malika Favre, Ian Stevenson, Stanley Chow, Grace Wilson, Pete Fowler, Chris SimpsonsArtist, Chris Riddell, Matthew the Horse, Charlotte Mei, Martin Rowson and many others.
Yellow has been printed by Italian print house L.E.G.O and put together by editor Daniel Humphry, art director Steve Leard and production manager Sarah Hamilton. Yellow can be ordered for £15.99 from offlife.co.uk. OFFLIFE blogged about the 52 pieces of work as they came in, here.
