Another week, another lovely new ad from Ikea. This latest spot, created for the Asian market, envisions the Ikea catalogue as a cookbook, from which you can cook up a new kitchen, to your desired specifications.
The spot is from BBH Asia Pacific, the agency behind last year’s hugely popular ‘bookbook‘ ad for Ikea, which spoofed Apple’s marketing approach. Here we see a chef putting ‘ingredients’ from the Ikea Metod Kitchen range – including cupboards and fixtures and fittings – into a frying pan, before a perfect miniature Ikea kitchen is served up. Charming and cute, the ad even manages to raise a smile with the obligatory ‘don’t try this at home’ message – nicely done all round.
