Ads of the Week

We've got great ads from Vodafone, Nike, GE, Canal+, Pedigree, Volkswagen and the Australian Transport Accident Commission to share with you this week. First up though, is a spot for Finish dishwasher powder that will resonate with anyone who finds that their pleasure in a social occasion can be marred by the thought of all the washing up...

Agency: Wieden + Kennedy London; ECDs: Tony Davidson, Iain Tait; Creative directors: Carlos Alija, Laura Sampedro; Creatives: Erin Swanson, Cal Al-Jorani; Director: Megaforce; Production company: Riff Raff Films.

Next up is a new spot from Vodafone which celebrates those who fully embrace life, no matter how ridiculous they might look. Agency: Grey London; CCO: Nils Leonard; Deputy ECD: Vicki Maguire; Creatives: Jonathan Marlow, Andy Garnett, Yassa Khan; Directors: We Are From LA; Production company: Iconoclast.

A classic piece of epic storytelling from Nike Golf now, in a spot which chronicles Rory McIlroy's journey in the sport, and how Tiger Woods went from being an idol to a competitor. Agency: Wieden + Kennedy; Director: Steve Rogers

Invention Donkey is the latest ad for GE from BBDO New York, and another great example of how entertaining content can bring potentially dry, complex ideas to life for a mainstream audience. CCO, Worldwide: David Lubars; CCO, New York: Greg Hahn; ECD: Michael Aimette; Creative directors: Tim Roan, Levi Slavin; Art director: Cesar Finamore; Director: Steve Miller; Production company: Radical Media.

A typically amusing spot for Canal+ now, which cleverly illustrates how irritating it is to have to wait for the latest season of your favourite TV show to arrive (and thus why, if you're in France, you need Canal Sat). Agency: BETC Paris; ECD: Stéphane Xiberras; Creatives: Eric Astorgue, Jean-Christophe Royer; Director: Thierry Poiraud; Production company: Rods.

This print and digital campaign for Pedigree's Dogs Adoption scheme plays on the question of how real our friends on social media are, and whether we might be better off adopting a dog instead. They are clever, and it's certainly a different move to create dog-related ads without showing cute pooches, though we're not sure they will perform quite as well with audiences as the US animal rescue organisation that put their dogs in a photobooth... Agency: CLM BBDO; Creative director: Matthieu Elaïm; Creatives: Anthony Lietart, Sébastien Duhaud; Photographer: Alex Murphy.

This enjoyably overblown ad for Volkswagen sees a young man demonstrate his true love for his Golf GTE when he is faced with an unexpected choice. Agency: DDB Paris; ECD: Alexandre Hervé; Creatives: Elie Sachs, Sophie Mégrous; Director: Noam Murro; Production company: Wanda.

We finish on a sobering note with a PSA from the Transport Accident Commission in Australia, which aims to highlight the way that children absorb our behaviours when driving, good or bad. Agency: Clemenger BBDO; ECD: Ant Keogh; Creative chairman: James McGrath; Creative director: Stephen de Wolf; Senior creatives: Luke Thompson, Jim Robbins; Director: Tomas Mankovsky; Production company: Finch/Blink.
